Though today’s World Cup game between Italy and USA was played in
Kaiserslautern, Germany, there was a huge pro-American crowd thanks to all of
the military bases in the vicinity of K-Town, as GIs call it. Ramstein
Air Force Base (where I was stationed in 1968-70), Landstuhl Army
Hospital, Kindsbach Army installation and the Vogelweh Army Post are
all within 15 miles of K-Town.
