UPDATE: The vote wasn’t close, 64-35. Only two of the seven in the photo (Cochran and Hatch) voted against cloture. This will be studied for years to come in political science classes. A wildly unpopular bill nevertheless gets nearly two-thirds support of the U.S. Senate. One side will be calling this antidemocratic and the other will be saying these brave senators followed their consciences.
