Gboro and Burlington are pushing hard for a data center park at the Guilford County prison farm, and needless to say not everyone’s in the loop:
The Rhino Times has also acquired a list of names that is titled “Visioning Session Attendees.” It’s not clear exactly what Visioning Session Attendees are, but all indications are that most if not all of the people on the list either know something about the project – or were going to be filled in at a later date.
The first name on the list is that of Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins, followed by Burlington Mayor Ronnie Wall and Guilford County Manager Marty Lawing. Also on the list are Chairman of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners Linda Shaw, Chairman of the Alamance County Board of Commissioners Tom Manning and Greensboro City Manager Denise Roth.
No doubt Perkins will continue to have a hand in this even after leaves office next month. Meanwhile Commissioner Alan Branson—-looks like he’s out of the loop —says he’s heard “that some of his constituents in the Prison Farm area had been approached by an older man who ‘would sit on their front porch and chew tobacco with them and see if they were interested in selling their property.”
