The citizens committee charged with keeping an eye on Winston-Salem’s taxpayer-funded BB&T Ballpark has been dissolved:

Members of the Citizens Baseball Stadium Review Committee asked the city to disband the group because they said the committee’s efforts were a waste of time, chairman Eric Prior said Tuesday.

Prior said the committee, which met quarterly, spent its time reviewing financial and operational numbers from the ballpark, home of the Winston-Salem Dash Class A minor league baseball team. The ballpark is owned by the city, which leases it to the team. The committee members signed a confidentiality agreement that prohibited them from discussing the numbers that were reviewed.

The city has another committee called the Public Assembly Facilities Commission that reviews financial and operational figures from city-owned facilities such as Joel Coliseum.

My initial thought is grouping the stadium along with the coliseum ensures that it will continue to lose money until the city starts shopping it around.
