Sen. Trudy Wade’s bill allowing some counties to publish public notices online instead of in local newspapers passed the Senate by a 26-22 vote. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives.
As you can probably imagine, the N&R has come out in strong opposition to the bill. Most recently the local paper of record said “current law requires publication in newspapers not for their benefit but for the benefit of the people.”
