Del Burns has been chosen to be the new superintendent of Wake County Schools.
I had a lengthy conversation with Dr. Burns on Tuesday and found him to be a likeable and intelligent guy. I asked him if he had any second thoughts about applying for the position, especially with an unpopular reassignment plan and billion-dollar bond referendum on the new superintendent’s plate. He told me that he is up to the challenge. It will not take long for us to find out.
