Wal-Mart is cutting prices just in time for back to school shopping. This is a windfall for customers, especially those with school aged kids, but also for those who shop at other stores that will most likely respond to Wal-Mart’s action by also cutting prices in order to compete. But how long will it be before we see stories telling us how awful Wal-Mart’s plan is and how it’s hurting other businesses? Not long I suspect, though the logic of the Wal-Mart haters has always eluded me, as well as others whose economic views I respect.
