A bill to transfer Asheville’s water system to the Metropolitan Sewerage District has passed the house unanimously. To date, I am aware of no sound reasoning for the measure provided publicly. When the water agreement was dissolved, a lot of bad arguments were presented. Asheville’s PIA’s made some missteps, but Buncombe County’s representatives presented such an internally-inconsistent pack of answers, I never wanted to speak to any of them again.

Then, there was the public hearing. Considering myself to be more knowledgeable than most, I spoke in favor of Asheville taking control of the system. Following the meeting, two guys in MSDS shirts chased me down. “There she is!” called one. They then attempted to set me straight – verbally, not physically.

There must be more to this than I am seeing.
