Alright, Jake haters. Simmer down.

Having a proven starter-quality QB in town behind Jake does not automatically put Jake on a short-leash. Sure, it would’ve been nice to have David Carr around last year when Jake went down. But Carr has not exactly set the world on fire during his time in the NFL. Give him running game and blocking — the same thing Jake needs — and things might be different for him.

I still maintain that the Panthers’ biggest problems still lie on the defensive side of the ball. As of this moment, backs who can get to the edge and pass-catching TEs will still nuke this defense. We got questions at LB and at safety. And people forget that CB play has been real spotty as well.

So maybe Carr is part of the answer, but not the entire answer. Keep working.
