State Sen. Robert Pittenger sums up the most important information gleaned from the N.C. Legislative Committee on Global Climate Change.

Surveying the preponderance of evidence in favor of “doing nothing” to reduce CO2 emmissions, the most persuasive would have to be that mandating any reduction similar to the Kyoto Protocol would cost the state $3.1 billion each year in tax revenue due to slower economic growth.

Lucky for us, even if the committee recommends mandating reduction, we’ve still got the oh-so-successful economic development partnerships and other state- funded programs to offset the economic lag.
