Sen. Hugh Webster is deservedly upset over the fact that Dell will not have to prove that it kept its part of the incentive bargain which includes creating 1,200 jobs in five years. State law defines this information as part of a company’s tax information, which is protected trade secrets.

Webster introduced legislation that would require Dell to make public the information regarding the incentive, but the amendment failed in the Senate 25-23.

If it really is “all about jobs” and the state is in an employment “crisis” then why the heck don’t legislators want to make sure that the jobs are created?
