John Edwards wants Americans to use Memorial Day this year for anti-war activism instead of its traditional role as a day to honor those military men and women who have given their lives for this country’s freedom.
What’s next on Edwards’ agenda? Will he next say Christmas should be used to inform everyone of the tenets of Islam? Or that July 4th should be used to extol the virtues of Cuban-style communism? Or that Thanksgiving should be used to illustrate how the white man exploited Native Americans? Oh, wait. We’re already doing that.
Edwards’ desperate lurch to the left is not only unbecoming, it is embarrassing to North Carolina.
UPDATE: Jeff Goldstein calls Edwards a “cynical political beast” (that’s one of the nice names he calls him) who is helping to define patriotism down.
He is, to put it frankly, a political whore. And those who support him are every bit as morally bankrupt as he is.
Now if you’ll excuse me for a bit, I need to go bathe.
