While some local officials are crying for more money from taxpayers, an audit says the policies and budget implemented by Apex officials have created a $10 million unassigned surplus for the town treasury. The state requires Apex to have bout $2 million in an emergency fund, and that money is already set aside. The next question is, what will Apex do with the “extra” $10 million? Officials will discuss options at a retreat. Kudos to the town for being good fiscal stewards.
