I’ll take at face value Jim Pendergraph’s statement that he is not leaving ICE after running into a brickwall on enforcement of immigration laws. (Even though we wondered about that very issue, that the former sheriff was being set up for failure.)
What does he do next? Well, let’s remember that both the city of Charlotte and the CMS board have offices on the ballot for 2009. And suppose that the current mayor gets kicked upstairs to Raleigh. And further suppose that Malcolm Graham decides he’d really like to be mayor.
