The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority has sued the McDevitt Agency, self-described “boutique” real estate firm for Uptown. A CRVA spokeswoman declined to provide specifics on the litigation, but a legal notice in The Charlotte Business Journal describes the suit as involving breach of contract with monies owed by McDevitt.

Short of a trip to the courthouse then, we’ll note that a hip McDevitt Agency ad occupies the back-cover of the CRVA-published 2009 Charlotte Visitor’s Guide. McDevitt’s website notes with pride the “three consecutive years as outside back cover of the annual Official Charlotte’s Visitors Guide. 300,000+ copies printed annually.”

Mecklenburg County property records also indicate that McDevitt Agency owner Shane McDevitt owes some $2300 in back property taxes on a Tryon St. office condo in Uptown.

Back in May 2008 Center City Partners touted the McDevitt Agency as a “first of its kind” operation in a glowing press release.

“Unique to this firm,” the CCP release concludes, “is their commitment to giving back to the community.”

Update: County records indicate that Shane McDevitt paid the $2348 property tax bill — including some $200 in late fees — last week, November 24th, 2009.
