An article in the Toledo Blade discloses a tuition increase in Toledo Catholic Elementary schools.  The tuition in one school increased from $1,800 to $4,019 a year. The increase puts the tuition just under the maximum amount the state allows for students coming from failing public schools. The Catholic schools serve a low-income population and try to keep costs as low to families as possible. Ohio offers vouchers to parents in failing district schools to attend private schools of choice.
Again, we see the audacity, and arrogance of the Toledo Public Schools official to ?ask if the Catholic schools are fleecing the system or price-gouging the state.”
Now let?s compare ?systems? ? in 2005-06 the Toledo City School District spent $10,604 per student while the state average is $9,052. Compare that with $4.019, what the Catholic school is now charging.  Who is price gouging?
