Got a mailer yesterday from Mecklenburg County commissioner Dan Murrey. Tells me, “Dan Murrey is fighting to build a stronger community.” Fighting whom?
Commission chair Jennifer Roberts and other fellow Democrats who make up the board majority? Fighting Gov. Bev Perdue? President Barack Obama? County Manager Harry Jones? County staff? Who?
Inside the mailer I’m told, “Dan Murrey is fighting to build strong schools in our community.” OK. How? Which schools does Dan Murrey want to close? Does Dan Murrey want to close magnets or neighborhood schools? Or can Dan Murrey duplicate the school closing savings by cutting CMS admin and overhead? Where is Dan Murrey’s proposal on such savings — or is Dan Murrey too busy fighting — someone, somewhere — to have come up with one?
