Last night the state House said no to the Senate approved version of the Jessica Lunsford Act. Why is unclear at the moment.
If passed, North Carolina law would require a minimum of 25 years in prison of adults who rape a child younger than 13 years of age. Seems pretty simple to me.
In 2005 Florida made child rape a capital felony. Jessica Lunsford was raped and murdered in Florida by a convicted sex offender. Jessica was a native of Gaston County.
