New regulations that are due to go into effect will require competency exams, registration and oversight by the IRS of professional tax preparation from such popular providers as H&R Block, and will include ‘mom-and-pop’ preparers as well, and are due to come into effect in 2011. But reports from thousands of individuals who attempt to prepare their own tax reports annually, with the help of free call-in advice from the IRS itself, reveal that error rates on that advice are extremely high ?around 41 percent? even though it’s coming right from the horse’s mouth.
So here’s to new nonsense, now to be officially certified, from the guys who can’t get it straight even when they give it straight to the taxpayer.
