Bryson City will have one mayoral candidate on the ballot, but two write-in candidates are expected to give him a run for the money. Disappointment has been expressed in the write-in candidates’ circumvention of filing fees. (I can’t find the amount online.) The incumbent is faulted for not announcing his intent not to run until the eleventh hour of the filing period. Others of his political persuasion might otherwise have filed. The odds the write-in campaigners will not cancel each other out are good, as in the last mayoral election, only 248 people voted.
