The Lexington Dispatch write-up of the tight state District 81 race between incumbent House Majority Leader Hugh Holliman and Republican challenger Rayne Brown doesn’t mention the State Employees Association of North Carolina’s campaign ads criticizing the “fine mess” Holliman has created in Raleigh.

Brown is running on a standard conservative platform of property rights, lower taxes and less government intrusion. One would think that if anything, state employees would fear for their jobs Brown is elected and establishes a voice in the House.

However, Brown is a longtime social worker and the SEANC ads target Holliman’s role in slashing funding for mental health programs, “forcing the state house violent mental health patients in rest homes.”

This will be a key race.
