Richmond County is among the counties shown in an N&O story today to have lost population in the past year. My only familiarity with Richmond County comes from my daughter’s two-year employment at The Richmond County Journal in Rockingham. From that, I learned that Rockingham has no movie theater. That’s right. In the whole town. People have to drive to Southern Pines to see a movie. No wonder people leave.
