The Daily Tar Heel reports today that UNC-Chapel Hill’s Committee on Student Conduct has drafted “sexual misconduct policies.” Someone tell me what kind of sexual misconduct there is that isn’t actionable in criminal court? I can think of no justification for a student Honors Court to have jurisdiction of sexual misconduct ? I foresee either an abridgment of the rights of actual victims or politically correct kangaroo courts for charges that wouldn’t fly in criminal proceedings (especially since the committee is considering changing the standard of conviction to “a ‘reasonable standard’ of proof”). Or both.
