Residents in SE Raleigh may not get the Wal-Mart they want if City Council upholds the decision of Russ Stephenson and Thomas Crowder on the Comprehensive Planning Committee. According to the N&O article, Crowder and Stephenson “said Wal-Mart failed to meet Raleigh’s standards.”

“I talk to people that wanted not only the Wal-Mart but the other shops
that could come with it,” said Daniel Coleman, co-chairman of the South
Central Citizens Advisory Council. “Some people were thinking that
would be an asset, and maybe we’d get an Applebee’s.”

Stephenson and Crowder may not think much of Wal-Mart or Applebee’s, but Neiman Marcus isn’t looking at Raleigh and Ruth’s Chris is already in Cary.
