Ah, that evil Wal-Mart is at it again. First the company gave us lower prices. Then they hired the physically and mentally challenged. Then they offered us generic drugs at amazingly low prices. Then they lowered prices further to help families deal with the recession. And now they’re hiring thousands as unemployment flirts with 9 percent.

Wal-Mart, the largest U.S. private employer, plans to add more than 22,000 U.S. jobs this year, spurred by store openings and expansions.

The company announced Thursday in an e-mailed statement that it will hire store managers, pharmacists, cashiers and other positions for the 142 to 157 Wal-Mart outlets it plans to open or expand in the 12 months through Jan. 31. The Bentonville, Ark.-based company has more than 1.4 million U.S. workers.

Yep, Wal-Mart’s just plain awful. How dare the company create jobs and offer low prices.
