The final results are in for the City of Asheville and the “Fab Four” are no more! The “progressive” bunch that tried to restrict open elections in Asheville this summer have lost their majority on City Council! Environmental activist Brownie Newman is no longer in control, by default, of Asheville City Council. Robin Cape and Holly Jones will have to figure out their new roles – in the minority – now.
(Side note: The ONLY candidate to NOT come on Take a Stand! during the General Election cycle -Elaine Lite- came in dead last… coincidence?)

The voters of Asheville confirmed that the historic petition drive that overturned the Fab Four’s election rule manipulations was not a fluke or a fad.

Asheville REJECTED Partisan Elections: 80% to 20%. A LANDSLIDE!!!

Also be sure to welcome Ashevilles’ newest Councilman – and I’m sure Carl Mumpowers’ new best friend – Bill Russell. And congrats to Jan Davis, the incumbant Democrat that was rejected by his own party this election cycle. He was the highest vote getter. (Don’t be surprised to see Jan Davis take over as the Vice Mayor in place of Holly Jones now….) Things are about to improve – at least a little – in Asheville.

Western NC Counties have also demolished any notion of approving the Home (“Land Transfer”) Tax or any Sales and Use Taxes in this region. WNC residents may have blocked any other counties from trying it by BURYING every single tax measure proposed.

Henderson County (Home Tax) – 79% Against – 21% For
Macon County (Home Tax) – 75% Against – 25% For

Rutherford County (Home Tax) – 92% Against – 8% For

Rutherford County (Sales and Use Tax) – 83% Against – 17% For

Swain County (Home Tax) – 79% Against – 21% For

Graham County (Home Tax) – 97% Against – 3% For

Graham County (Sales and Use Tax) – 88% Against – 12% For

Macon County voters also shot down EVERY SINGLE bond requested.

Thank you voters of WNC for TAKING A STAND!!!! It was a good night across WNC.
