I’ve been reading the speeches of another redhead, Patrick Henry. Here is a good quote from a speech delivered at the Virginia Convention considering ratifying the Constitution:
“You are not to inquire how your trade may be increased nor how you are to become great and powerful people, but how your liberties can be secured; for liberty ought to be the direct end of your government.”
