The Wall Street Journal calls the Obama administration’s legal effort force Catholic nuns to violate their religious beliefs “a war on religiously devout women.”

For now, the Little Sisters of the Poor have been given an injunction against ObamaCare’s outrageous mandate, which would force the nuns to provide contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs as part of health insurance.

The High Court’s order bars the Administration from imposing fines on any nonprofit that declares a religious identity and objects to the mandate. It doesn’t go to the merits or relate to the separate contraceptive mandate cases that the Court will hear in March. Yet the fact that such an extraordinary intervention was necessary speaks volumes about the Administration’s ideological intolerance.

The Becket Fund, which represents the nuns, issued the following news release about the injunction.

“We are delighted that the Supreme Court has issued this order protecting the Little Sisters,” said Mark Rienzi, Senior Counsel for the Becket Fund.  “The government has lots of ways to deliver contraceptives to people–it doesn’t need to force nuns to participate.”

ObamaCare — the poster child for religious intolerance.
