Yes, yes I know all about not “trying the case in the newspapers.” But I’m getting a little itchy to hear some more details.

Specifically, we still have no clue how Irina got from a strip mall near UNCC to the banks of the Catawba River. This was always the great howling mystery in this case.

Mark Bradley Carver and Neal Leon Cassada Jr. are from Gaston County. Were they known to make the long trip to University City for any reason? If so, we haven’t heard about it.

And as for the DNA evidence the state is obviously basing its case upon, is it possible that Carver and Cassada contaminated the crime scene — the car especially — after Irina was murdered? The timeline will be crucial in this case.

These are the kinds of things I wonder about. And imagine other folks do too.
