Herald-Sun Editor Bob Ashley says rumors of The Chapel Hill Herald’s demise are erroneous. That’s good to hear. I didn’t start the rumor but I certainly helped spread it in this post a few weeks ago. Then The Independent wrote about, further distributing the info. I can’t say whether the rumor was always false or whether the Paxton folks decided, after further consideration and possibly heated input from CHH readers, it wasn’t such a good idea. I guess we’ll never know. But I can say my source was not just some goomer on the street.
Still, after nearly 20 years working at The Herald-Sun and being entrusted by management to start The Chapel Hill Herald in 1988, you’d think the current editor would be able to spell my name correctly. Here’s visible proof of the misspelling just in case they airbrush it later.
