WUNC’s Laurie Leslie takes a look at a highly questionable budget request by Forsyth Rep. Earline Parmon, who wants $250,000 earmarked for Delta Visions, a low income housing group headed by Doris Herrell, who just happens to be Parmon’s campaign manager.

Here’s what jumped out at me:

According to the group’s tax returns, Delta Visions provides low-cost housing services, apparently via housing units on a sizable patch of land it owns in Winston-Salem.

……Delta Visions is a foundation started by members of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. The group apparently wants to build a convention center on its land, which is why Parmon and Womble are seeking sizable grants. Parmon says the group hasn’t had any luck with city funders.

Just when you think you’ve heard it all out of Winston-Salem. And don’t count the city funders out just yet.
