Occupants have announced they will start doing their thing in Hendersonville Saturdays. They will camp out in front of the Bank of America. One of the event’s organizers, former Henderson County Democratic Party chair Doug Freeman said, as the Asheville occupants did, that the protest would be peaceful. But he added:
it could turn violent any number of ways — overreaction by authorities, some yahoos exercising their Second Amendment rights (and) doing something stupid.
Again, it reminds me of the mugger or rapist who tells their victim everything will be OK as long as they cooperate.
The Hendersonville occupancy is expected to be comprised mostly of retirees. Allegedly an article in the “AARP Bulletin” last week tried to egg-on some of their supporters. Freeman believes the movement started with not-too-distant events in Wisconsin,
that kind of awakened some sense in the public that working people are getting the short stick.
