The News & Observer reports that Gov. Mike Easley directed his Department of Transportation Secretary, Lyndo Tippett, to release to the public copies of a report that it had been keeping a secret. DOT says it will do so.

“The governor told him, ‘You release it all. You release it
immediately. The public has paid for it. They have a right to see it,
and you release it now,’ ” said Sherri Johnson, Easley’s communications
director.

Easley telephoned Tippett four days after The News
& Observer reported DOT’s reluctance to make public the details of
its work with McKinsey & Co., a management consulting firm.

Okay, so can the governor now give Roanoke Rapids city officials a call?
