This Thursday, Dec. 3, the John Locke Foundation and the Pope Center for Higher Education Policy will co-sponsor a public forum on the issue of taxpayer funded arts education. It should be a fascinating discussion featuring three experts with varying perspectives.

The event coincides with the publication of a paper by the Pope Center for Higher Education Policy about the UNC School of the Arts, a state-owned conservatory dedicated to the professional training of performing artists. On a per capita basis its costs are the highest in the University of North Carolina system. Panelists:

Max Borders, executive director of the Free to Choose Network and author of the Pope Center paper

John Hood, president of the John Locke Foundation

J. Peder Zane, former Ideas columnist for the Raleigh News and Observer.

Cost for the luncheon/panel discussion is $20. Register here.
