The John Locke Foundation’s research team released this week Agenda 2012, which offers more than 100 recommendations in 35 subject areas for North Carolina candidates seeking free-market, limited-government approaches to public policy. Terry Stoops also released a new report documenting the market share for schools of choice in each North Carolina county and in all 50 states. 

The Heritage Foundation’s “Insider Online” recently promoted Fergus Hodgson’s report advocating “reverse logrolling” to help control costs in the North Carolina state budget. The Daily Kos website featured an interview with Jon Sanders, Director of Regulatory Studies, about syringe decriminalization. The Burlington Times-News cited JLF research in an editorial about compensation for victims of North Carolina’s eugenics-based forced sterilization program.

Policy Analyst and Meck Deck blogger Michael Lowrey will discuss blogging Saturday during a presentation to a group of Russian journalists attending a meeting of the N.C. Federation of Young Professional Republicans.

The Heartland Institute sought expert analysis from Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray on the N.C. General Assembly’s recent vote to override a gubernatorial veto and move forward with additional studies of hydraulic fracturing — fracking — for natural gas. Gray continues her semiweekly state politics and public policy updates for WTSB Radio listeners.
