Cato Institute’s James Dorn, writing in Investors Business Daily, points out that Thomas Piketty’s crusade for greatly increased taxes on the wealthy was decried as “legal plunder” more than 150 years ago by a much more astute French economist, Frederic Bastiat.
Egalitarian academics like Piketty are the “useful idiots” of the statists who yearn for excuses to expand the scope and power of government for their own interests.
