David Bass has a sharp piece today, arguing that one big result of our mania for pushing as many young people as possible into college is that we get a lot of 26 year-olds in diapers (figuratively). Going to college prolongs adolescence and gives them a set of false expectations. I link to his piece in this post of mine at the National Association of Scholars blog.
I suspect that the majority of the Occupy protesters fit his description.
