In addition to the WBT Radio discussions of North Carolina’s budget and tax burden, Charlotte’s public radio station, WFAE, featured John Locke Foundation Fiscal Policy Analyst Joseph Coletti this week for an hourlong discussion of tax reform initiatives. Meanwhile, Fox Charlotte (WCCB) Television interviewed Jeff Taylor about state and local tax hikes. One reason lawmakers put forward for seeking tax increases involves the need for additional funds for schools. They fail to mention the growth in nonclassroom jobs that have no proven impact on improving student performance. The N.C. Family Policy Council recently highlighted a report from JLF Education Policy Analyst Terry Stoops that addresses that school personnel growth.
