The recently concluded 2010 legislative session included another round of corporate tax giveaways. Carolina Journal Editorial Intern Bill Flanigen recapped them this week in an exclusive article that earned him an interview with Lockwood Phillips on WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio.” N.C. Senate Republicans also promoted Flanigen’s story. The Lincoln Tribune and Tar Heel Tribune published Rick Henderson’s report on an unsuccessful congressional vote to eliminate federal stimulus spending for highway signs promoting the stimulus program. The Lincoln Tribune also picked up Carolina Journal Radio Co-Host Donna Martinez‘s article about an upcoming sales tax vote in Orange County and contributor Jim Stegall‘s report on the recent N.C. Alliance for Public Charter Schools conference. In other news, a report on the WNCN Television website noted Carolina Journal‘s participation in a legal battle to obtain access to text messages linked to a former N.C. Highway Patrol spokesman. Meanwhile, the Salisbury Post published a recent Carolina Journal Online column from Troy Kickler, Director of the N.C. History Project. Kickler discussed Americans’ ambivalence about the U.S. soccer team’s participation in the recent World Cup. Speaking of Kickler, the Documenting the American South website recently highlighted his work in an article about railroads.
