Tuesday marked the official release date for Catalyst, John Locke Foundation Chairman John Hood‘s political biography of former N.C. Gov. Jim Martin. Hood and Martin discussed the book and signed copies during an event at the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh. Both men appeared on WUNC Radio’s “The State of Things” and Time Warner Cable News’ statewide “Capital Tonight” program. Martin joins JLF Vice President for Marketing and Communications Donna Martinez on this weekend’s edition of Curtis Media Group’s syndicated “People In Politics” program. The Raleigh News and Observer featured Catalyst in two separate articles: a column from editor John Drescher and a book review from top political writer Rob Christensen. The Charlotte Observer picked up Christensen’s review. Syndicated columnist D.G. Martin also spotlighted Catalyst in a piece that appeared in newspapers such as the Richmond County Daily Journal and Morganton News Herald.

In addition to the interview with Martin, Martinez’s “People In Politics” program also featured its regular “On The Trail” election campaign segment with Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson. JLF Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray continues twice-weekly politics and public policy radio updates for WTSB. Gray offered an assessment of the recently concluded state legislative session during an appearance on Time Warner Cable News’ “Capital Tonight.” Gray served as a panelist for a special session of “N.C. Spin” staged for N.C. State University’s Kenan Fellows.

The N.C. Spin website promoted Gray’s “Locker Room” blog entry recapping the legislative session‘s top accomplishments. The Wilmington Star-News published her column touting strong points within the new state budget plan. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted that column. The Lenoir News-Topic and Jefferson Post picked up Gray’s column urging state lawmakers to continue important public policy discussions on issues left unresolved at the end of the legislative session.

The N.C. Spin website promoted a Burlington Times-News editorial that cited Hood’s recent column on legislators setting the stage for a state building boom. N.C. Senate Republicans’ daily press email cited Hood’s columns placing North Carolina’s sluggish labor market in a national context and promoting North Carolina as a leader in conservative policy.
