JLF continues to influence public discussions about the upcoming school
bond referendum in Charlotte/Mecklenburg, in which residents will be
asked to approve the first three years of a proposed 10-year, $1.97
billion school construction and renovation plan. On Thursday, Lindalyn Kakadelis participated in a public debate on the issue
sponsored by the League of Women Voters. The forum aired on local
public TV. It followed a two-week span of media reports that include
references to Terry Stoops’ Policy Report analyzing Charlotte/Meckleburg’s plans and proposing efficiencies.
On Monday, both Stoops and Kakadelis guested on WTKF’s “Lockwood
Phillips Show” to discuss bond efforts in Carteret and Onslow counties.
Kakadelis focused on issues of
charter school construction and school choice, while Stoops discussed
construction principles that can be applied to any school system.
