District enrollment dropped by over 64,000 students last year

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released the final average daily membership (ADM) counts for the 2020-21 school year.

Last year, the final ADM for districts was 1,344,758 students.  The final ADM for the 2019-20 school year was 1,409,179 students.

The district market share dropped from 79.2% in 2019-20 to 76.6% in 2020-21.
