New York Times columnist Paul Krugman can’t accept statistical evidence
that shows it’s not a random occurrence that so many professors lean to
the left. Instead, he wrote, professors are choosing not to respect the
Republican Party, which he says doesn’t respect science or research.
George Leef took aim in a column posted at the web site of
the National Association of Scholars. He explained the irony of the
argument by using an analogy to “evidence-averse bastions” known as
Women’s Studies programs. “If a professor or student wanted to land in
hit water there, just let her question the conventional wisdom that the
famous “wage gap” is explained by anything other than discrimination
against women in the labor market.”
