Greensboro’s International Civil Rights Center and Museum is two years behind on its city and Guilford County property taxes, according to the News & Record:

Ben Chavis, director of the county’s tax department, said no one from the museum contacted him since that payment to discuss payment arrangements.

His office collects property taxes due to both Guilford County and the city of Greensboro.

Museum officials, including executive director John Swaine and board chairwoman Deena Hayes-Greene, didn’t respond to emails and phone calls from the News & Record this week and last month.

I reckon Mayor Nancy Vaughan and City Manager Jim Westmoreland—both museum board members—are shall we say cautiously optimistic that the museum will not only pay its taxes but also will make the June 30 deadline for payment on the city’s $1.5 million forgivable loan.
