When a News & Observer headline writer mistakenly labeled a pricing change in the State Health Plan as a “fat tax,” John Locke Foundation Fiscal and Health Care Policy Analyst Joseph Coletti responded with a quick correction in a letter to the editor. Coletti also hit the road this week to discuss health care with the Goldsboro Kiwanis Club. Senate Republicans also took note this week of Coletti’s work to suggest much-needed reforms in the state budget process. A GOP blast e-mail highlighted both a Carolina Journal exclusive on Coletti’s research into that topic and a John Hood Daily Journal column on a similar theme. Hood also tackled health-care issues with a contribution to National Review Online’s “Critical Condition” blog. The entry focused on state concerns about federal proposals to expand Medicaid.
