Gov. Beverly Perdue has seen her popularity plunge in recent weeks. When The News & Observer asked why, reporters turned to John Locke Foundation President John Hood for answers. Speaking of Hood’s assessment of Perdue’s problems, the Senate Republicans’ daily e-mail blast featured this week a column Hood wrote on the topic. The Durham Herald-Sun also turned to Hood this week for a story about a controversial city charter provision that allows Durham officials to prod contractors to work with businesses owned by women and minorities. Meanwhile, Hood continued his regular contributions to National Review Online’s main blog, “The Corner,” with observations about the serious (myths connected to public education) and the silly (a Russian politician who makes South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s recent public meltdown look tame by comparison).
