Readers of the Charlotte Observer learned this week why current North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory has more in common with the Tar Heel State’s last Republican chief executive than left-of-center pundits and most mainstream media outlets care to admit. John Locke Foundation President John Hood wrote a column for the Observer comparing McCrory to former Gov. Jim Martin, who’s the subject of Hood’s next book. A guest column in the High Point Enterprise cites Hood while also comparing McCrory and Martin.
The News & Observer‘s “Under the Dome” blog noted Hood’s recent column on the political nature of the U.S. Justice Department’s lawsuit against North Carolina’s new election law. The Winston-Salem Journal interviewed Hood for an article previewing this week’s legislative hearing on scandals and mishaps involving the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. The Journal also quoted Hood in an article about the latest state business climate rankings from the Tax Foundation.
The Duke Chronicle reported on Hood’s recent participation in a panel discussion focusing on North Carolina’s 2013 legislative session. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted in their daily press email Hood’s column on the limited value of offering salary supplements to public school teachers with master’s degrees.
