The problem, of course, is that the accumulation of governmental obstacles to business start-ups and growth is largely responsible for the sluggishness of the economy — and the idea of eliminating any of them is unthinkable to people raised on the notion that more government is always better.
In this AEI piece, Jim Pethokoukis points out that entrepreneurship is at low-ebb and makes an interesting comparison to the reintroduction of wolves into Yellowstone. Entrepreneurs are like wolves; they change the eco-system. We need more of them, but won’t get them in the heavily regulated, heavily taxed, entitlement-dominated state our “liberals” have created.
