In what should be a hotly contested midterm race, Greensboro attorney and philanthropist Kathy Manning will face incumbent Rep. Ted Budd in the November general election for the 13th Congressional district seat.

Manning easily defeated opponent Adam Coker in yesterday’s primary, winning 70 percent of the vote. As I noted in my CJ write-up on the primary, Manning is part of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s “Red to Blue Program” that arms what it deems to be “top tier” candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them run strong campaigns.
