Brady Leonard writes for the Washington Examiner about the latest evidence that President Biden doesn’t run the White House.
The Biden administration enraged all but the most radically left-wing corners of the internet on Saturday when it issued a proclamation by the 46th president declaring Easter Sunday “Transgender Day of Visibility.” Republican leaders rightly slammed him. “Banning sacred truth and tradition — while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as ‘Transgender Day’ — is outrageous and abhorrent. The American people are taking note,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said.
The White House’s corporate media-led offensive line couldn’t wait to point out that Trans Day of Visibility has been celebrated since 2009. Still, anyone with an elementary understanding of how politics works understands that a normal administration would have perhaps moved its celebration away from the holiest day in the Christian calendar. However, the Biden White House is anything but normal.
The president replied, “I didn’t do that,” when asked about the proclamation, and he claimed Johnson was “thoroughly uninformed.” Knowing what we do about the diminished mental state of the 81-year-old president, there is no reason to believe he is aware of what his staff actually does much of the time. For good or ill, modern presidential administrations are often staffed by increasingly ideological young people who seek to remake the world in the image of whatever trends pique the interests of their peers on social media.
This culture extends upward in the Biden administration’s higher ranks. Rachel Levine, assistant secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, has taken an outsize role in the administration for reasons quite obviously not related to her qualifications. The Biden regime prioritizes diversity at the Federal Reserve as the middle class continues to be crushed by inflation.
Put simply, Biden needs either to admit he’s an ideologue in the vein of his staffers or wake up and let someone else do the job.
